⚙️ How it works
The system has two main parts:
1) Sense (measurement)
- A flow cell constantly samples pool water
- Sensors measure:
- pH probe → acidity level
- ORP probe → chlorine strength (sanitizing power)
2) Dispense (chemical control)
It can control:
- 🧂 Salt chlorinator output (more/less chlorine production)
- 🧪 Acid dosing pump (to lower pH)
- 🫧 CO₂ system (in some setups)
🧱 Main components
- Flow cell chamber (water sample loop)
- pH probe
- ORP probe
- Control module (HL-CHEM / AQL-CHEM)
- Injection control outputs (acid/chlorine systems)
👍 Key benefits
✔ Automatic water balancing (less manual testing)
✔ More stable chlorine levels (no big highs/lows)
✔ Better compatibility with saltwater pools
✔ Integrates into full Hayward automation systems
✔ Can be monitored via app (with OmniLogic setups)
⚠️ Real-world limitations
- ❌ Not fully “set and forget” (still needs calibration)
- ❌ Probes require cleaning and replacement over time
- ❌ Flow cell must maintain correct water flow or readings become wrong
- ❌ Can be expensive compared to manual testing
- ❌ Acid/CO₂ systems still require refills and maintenance
